Proof of the Diety of Christ from God's Word

Jesus is God:

This proof is made based on the following premises, pursuant to the corresponding Bible verses where applicable:

1)God's Word, the Bible, is inerrant & perfect, Ps 18:30, 19:7, 12:6;

2)God has perfectly preserved his Word, 2 Tim 3:16, 1 Pet. 1:24, 25, Lk 21:33;

3)There is only one God, God is One, & there is no one like him either, Deut. 6:4, 4:35, Jude 25, Is 44:6, 45:5,14,18, 1 Tim 1:17, Is 46:9;

4)God's Word is our highest & final authority, Jn 12:48, Is 8:20, Mk 7:5-13, Jn 10:35, Lk 10:25,26, Ps 111:10 & by multiple inferences of Christ, for ex. Lk 20:17, Matt 21:13;

5)The Laws of Logic, the Law of Absolutes: 2 statements that are in absolute contradiction to each other cannot both be truth @ the same time

I. Direct assertions that Jesus is God

Jesus is:

II. Jesus holds the names of God

Jesus is:

Mighty God, Is 9:6

God is the Mighty One, Ps 49:26

the King of Kings & the Lord of Lords, Rev 17:14, 19:16

God only is, 1 Tim 6:15

the Alpha & Omega, Rev 21:6, 22:13,

the Beginning & the End, Rev 21:6, 22:13

By defn. there can only be one Beginning & End

Savior, 1 Tim 1:8, Tit 2:6, 2 Cor 1:10 (there's only one Savior, Is 43:11)

Jesus holds the Name above all names, Phil 12:9

God's name is above all, Ps 138:2, Ex 3:14

III. Jesus is Equal to God

Believing in Jesus is believing in God, Jn 12:44

Seeing Jesus is seeing God, Jn 12:45

Seeing & knowing Jesus is seeing & knowing God, Jn 14:7-10

Jesus is worthy of God's honor, Jn 5:26, Rev 5:11-14

Jesus is the exact image of God, Heb 1:3, Col 1:15, 2 Cor 4:4

Jesus's glory is God's (Yahweh's) glory, Jn 12:39-41 (cf Is 6:1-10)

    God shares his glory with no one else: Is. 42:8, God says, "I am the LORD, that is my name; & I will not give my glory to anyone else!"

IV. God is Equal to Jesus

God dwells in bodily form in Jesus, Col 2:9

God died on the cross for us, Acts 20:25-28

     Jesus died on the cross for us, Rom 5:6-8

V. Jesus hold the Attributes & Exercises the Prerogatives of God

Jesus created all things, Jn 1:3, Heb 1:10, Col 1:16, Heb 3:3-6

     God created all things, Gen 1:1, Is 45:18

Jesus' own hands created all the heavens & the earth, Heb 1:10

     God's own hands created all things, & he was all alone when he did so, Is 44:24, 45:12, 48:13

Jesus created all things for himself, Col 1:16, Rom 11:36
Only God can make such a claim

Jesus is immortal & not part the realm of creation, the Logos (Word) who has always existed, interacting in the OT as well as the the NT, Jn 1:3 (Jesus made all things that have been made), Jn 17:5,24 (Jesus was with the Father & was glorified with him before the foundation of the world), 1Pet 1:10-12, Jn 8:54-58 (Jesus knew Abraham, & Abraham rejoiced to see Jesus), Rev 17:5 (Jesus is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world), 1 Cor 10:3, Heb 13:8

     Only God is immortal, 1 Tim 6:16

Jesus received & is worthy of worship, Heb 1:6, Matt 2:11, 14:32, 28:9, Rev 5:12,13

    God alone is worthy of worship, & worship of anyone or anything else is idolatry,

    Deut 6:13, 5:7,8, Matt 4:10, Rev 22:8,9

Jesus is the source of all life, Jn 1:4, 5:21,26, 6:33, 11:25,26 14:6

    God is the source of all life, Gen 1:24-26, 1 Tim 6:13

Jesus has absolute power in the universe, Heb 1:3, Col 1:17, Lk 10:18,19, Jude 4

    God has all power, Ps 62:11, Job 12:13, Rev 19:1

Jesus has power over life & death (to raise people from the dead), Matt 28:5-20, Jn 10:14-18, 11:1-43, 1 Cor 15:20,21,52, 2 Tim 1:10

    God alone has power over life & death, to raise from the dead, Ps 33:18,19, 49:10-15, 68:20, 107:21-30, Hos 13:14, 2 Cor 1:9

Jesus has power over demons & diseases, Mk 1:21-28, 2:3-12, 10:46-52, Matt 20:29-34
Jesus has control over nature, Jn 6:16-24 (Jesus walked on water), Mk 4:35-41 (Jesus controlled the wind & the waves), Matt 21:18-21 (Jesus caused a fig tree to wither)
